The Clubs Behind TriAthy

Trilogy Triathlon Club (Portlaoise) Belpark Triathlon Club (Dublin)

Trilogy Triathlon is the Triathlon Ireland Affiliated club for Laois and surrounding counties. The club was formed in 2004 to promote the multisport ethos of Triathlon - competing in running, cycling and swimming events.

In 2007 we have over 70 members, and as well as officially taking part in over 20 events nationwide each season, we also organise three major events, together with a local training league for Triathlon and Duathlon.

As a young club, we are very proud to offer all new members a welcoming and encouraging environment. After all, there is nobody in the club so long that they forget what it is like to be a new member.

We can promise new members coaching and support, group training and encouragement, an environment to reach your personal best, and best of all - a friendly, fun and social environment.

If you are thinking about joining us we hope that you find enough information on this website for you to want to meet up in person. If you have any questions, why not contact the Club Secretary (Karl@trilogy.ie) or Deirdre (deirdre@trilogy.ie) - we would be more than delighted to help.

Belpark Triathlon Club is based in Dublin, with members and training sessions throughout Dublin, City Centre, Southside & Northside.

WHAT WE ARE:

  • Club of the Year 2006.
  • Organisers of the best triathlon training sessions . All our coaches have won national champions. You get to learn from the best.
  • We help members achieve their potential , be that crossing the finish line or winning the national championships.
  • Organisers of the Dublin Duathlon Series and we co-organisers of Tri-Athy with Trilogy tri club (Portlaoise). The club to join, if you want to improve . Four recruits in the last two years have changes from average athletes in their former club to race winners in Belpark colours.
  • 22 years old in 2008 . In 1986 Margaret Burns and a few friends from a running club called 'BELgrave square harriers' who trained in 'bushy PARK' started to do a few triathlons. Taking the BEL from Belgrave and PARK from Bushy Park, they came up with the name BELPARK.
  • A low maintenance, low bureaucracy, high drama club . Why spend time in committee meetings and agm's giving yourself titles, when you could be winding up the serious triathlon clubs?
  • See Archie's images on www.dublintri.com for a taste of what we mean.

WHAT WE ARE NOT:

  • We don't charge a membership fee . Yes you read it correctly, no membership fee. We make enough on the events we organise to pay for coaches, Christmas parties, gear etc.
  • We are not an ironman club. Most members compete in the Irish sprint & Olympic distance triathlon & duathlons, so our training sessions reflect this. We don't do long 5 hour cycles or 3 hour runs. In fact if you have talent, we'll probably discourage you from doing an ironman.
  • We are not an elitist club. All our sessions are open to everybody; we don't have a high performance squad, with high performance egos, like other clubs. The more the merrier is our policy. However we do have some of the best triathletes in the country, with well over 20 race wins in both 2006 and 2007, we have a record that no other club has ever come close to matching.
